Steeped in history, this picturesque hilly town built over time on many levels provides wonderful hidden coves, winding lanes and many coastal trails. With each step there is something to discover from this historic fishing community and makes for a wonderful day out for exploration.
The Hall Walk trail loops the town in a 4 mile walk and provides you with wonderful views of Fowey harbour whilst the winding and sometimes steep lanes of the town serve you well with quaint local shops and cafes.
From the renowned Readymoney Cove you can also take a trail to part of the town’s history… St Catherine’s Castle. Built in the 16th Century defending the harbour from the French invasion.
Whilst the town is smaller than its neighbour of Looe, it makes for a lovely day out and gives the opportunity to also visit some other gems nearby such as the Lost Gardens of Heligan, which are well worth a visit as is the infamous Eden Project. As the weather turns colder, it’s the Autumn and Winter months of Cornwall which provide visitors with a chance to have their space to escape!
