Match Rules

  • No floating baits
  • No cat meat
  • No live bait except worms and maggots
  • No Elite/Halibut/High oil pellets 
  • no bigger than a size 12 hook to be used
  • All fish on Pines are to be landed with a landing net.
  • During a festival Carp DO NOT count on Pines lake.
  • On Pines lake meat is only allowed to be used as hookbait (no feeding meat)
  • No more than 2 tins of meat (250g size) per angler per match to be used in any one day (minimum 6mm cubes) 
  • No blood-worm/joker allowed
  • Barbless hooks only
  • No braided hook lengths or mainline allowed
  • 16m pole limit
  • No fixed rigs, no stops back up the line i.e. no bolt rigs
  • When fishing a float must be attached to the line (no over shotting)
  • No feeding with a cup while you are fishing the bomb or waggler
  • You may only fish halfway between yourself and the next angler.
  • All leads must be free running
  • Shallow Pellet waggler fishing: 
  • Must be a waggler,No surface controllers,candles or other buoyancy aids.
  • Only a waggler attached at the bottom end of the float.
  • After very careful consideration of shallow waggler results the change of the rule being made is to allow bait to be presented at a shallow depth so as to prevent the foul hooking of fish which has occurred previously.
  • No floating poles, you must use a float on the pole
  • When the signs are displayed you must dip all your landing nets, keep nets, stink bags, carp mats on arrival.
  • Please dry nets before coming to Stafford Moor, please stretch out all nets at least 10 minutes before the match begins
  • Maximum of 55lbs of carp in a keep net,  if up to 65lb in any one net your weight which is over will be deducted,  in excess of 65lb your whole net weight will not be counted.
  • Maximum of 50lbs of silvers in a keep net, if up to 60lb in any one net your weight which is over will be deducted, in excess of 60lb your whole net weight will not be counted.
  • Silver fish must be kept in a SEPARATE net no mixing your carp with silvers, No moving of any fish during the match or once the match has ended. No lifting nets out until the scales man is present.
  • It is advisable to bring a minimum of 3 keep nets with you.
  • Pike/Trout/Catfish do not count
  • No pole slapping or pole rig windmilling, helicoptering, you can lift and drop only or flick.
  • A maximum of 8 pints of pellets to be used in any one day or in a match this 8 pint limit INCLUDES 4 pints of caster/maggots this max includes any other baits. PLUS YOU CAN USE A MAX OF 1x kilo worm, 2 x tins of meat, 2 x 300g tins of sweetcorn, 2 x kilo of ground bait/paste.
  • No gardening! If any plants/trees are causing you a problem please notify either Paul or Jo. Please do not attempt to cut/prune/damage the plants/trees.
