Summer is back, the longer days are here and as Brits WE pray for more sunshine.
The run up to the Summer solstice weather wise has been kind with glorious warm days but now more and more staycations are booked, we would love to see more. But come rain or shine, Summer is for many the best of seasons and here we go through a list of why:
Warmer temperatures
Ok so we’re not guaranteed the sunshine, but the temperatures do rise which means we still get to turn the central heating off and pack the winter coats away. Instead, open toe shoes, lighter jackets and the sunglasses get to show off.
Longer days
There’s something about being able to sit outside on a veranda, or in your back garden which provides a sense of calm, listening to the birds set their nests and the calmness of the air whilst watching the sun set.
Chilled cocktails
A nice long glass filled with ice and your favourite refreshing cocktail, Summer shouts Pimms, Aperol Spritz or just simply elderflower bubbles. Whatever it is, it’s a must to decorate with an obligatory umbrella and straw (paper one!) takes you even further into that holiday mode!
Dipping of toes
The weather might not always be warm enough for taking a dip in the sea but paddling the feet at the shore or in the paddling pool takes those of us older ones to the fun days of being a child and for those young ones having their first experience brings pure joy with the splish splash in and out without a care in the world.
Summer smiles
To conclude, summer is one of the better seasons, simply because it provides so many more smiles for us to witness which has a domino effect on others. A smile is infectious and we pass them on and on. So whatever you are up to this Summer, whether joining us on a staycation here in Cornwall or have a staycation in your own back garden, make the most of those longer days, with picnics, cocktails, toe dipping and sunset watching, and make this Summer one filled with many happy smiling memories. Oh, and don’t forget the Cornish ice cream!
